Hier wohnt Kalle

Klasse Deutsch 2008
My Expectations:
The skill of acquiring a second language is a long and worthwhile process, which can have a great impact upon your life. In German, as in all Year 12 subjects you are required to make a great commitment to your study and learning.
What you should do; be punctual to all your classes; have at least 80% attendance for the year; complete all SACs to a satisfactory standard (you may only miss a SAC with a medical certificate); complete homework; and revise and study areas of personal difficulty (You should know your own strengths and weaknesses in this subject and have a revision study plan to improve in these areas).
Important!!! Never just turn up to class without at least an attempt at a homework task!
You can help yourself by using German everyday. Make it fun, watch or listen to SBS on a regular basis, call your friends in Germany, write emails and text your German friends, when the exchange students are in Australia go out of your way to talk to them in German, use your Ipod and don’t forget there are 3 German teachers at Monbulk College and about 20 VCE students with whom you may have a conversation with at, or outside of, school.
If you are motivated and organised then I am sure you all have the potential to achieve in this subject. If you are having any difficulties throughout the year with any aspects of the course then please communicate them to me.
I wish you all a good start to your final year of secondary school and look forward to working with you in 2008.
Mr. P Wilson

The flag of Germany was adopted in its present form in 1919. It was readopted with the new constitution of 1949. It is a tricolour, made of three equal horizontal bands coloured black (top), red, and gold (bottom).
There are several theories regarding the origins of the German flag colour scheme and its meaning. The most popular theory is that the black and gold combination relates to the colours on the semi-official coat of arms of the Holy Roman Empire. When the Holy Roman Empire ceased to exist these two colors were closely associated with Austria's Habsburg Dynasty, which became known as the "Black and Gold Monarchy."
